Gorthleck
The hamlet of Gorthleck including from Chapel Bridge along Lochgarthside to the Gaik at one time had Shops and Post Office . There are several Mansion Houses in the area , Gorthleck, Corriegarth, Easter Aberhaulder another one Wester Aberhaulder was burn down in the nineteen forties . Gortleck has a Public Hall “The Stratherrick Public Hall”
Stratherrick War Memorial. Situated on an outcrop of rock beside the B862 road below Gorthleck House . The memorial commemorates the local service personnel from Whitebridge, Gorthleck, Foyers Inverfarigaig, Errogie and Torness who lost their lives during World War One and Two. Prince Charlie room Gorthleck Mains , the room where Prince Charles stayed on the first night after his defeat at Cullloden . He only stayed a half night here word had reached him that there were Redcoats in the district so he moved and spent the rest of the night in Aberhaulder . Bailebeag Meal Store c1966.. Situated just along the road from Drumtemple Church on the corner of the road before it goes down to the Coriegarth crossroads . Lochgarthside Hay Ricks c 1960. On Robin Fraser's croft at Gorthleck , after the hay was cut and left to dry spread out on the ground. The next stage was to gather it into small Hay Ricks. Then it would be taken to near the croft building and a hay stack built, to store the hay which would feed the animals over the winter . Photograph courtesy of Rose Fortune.

The telephone poles normally followed the road till they went towards a house across the fields . I wonder if anyone remembers henry Moore the laird he was from Yorkshire! His son married a local girl Betty mackintosh in 1954
